The aim of our
club is to promote the welfare of the elderly and inform in Roslin and Bilston
and its environs. We provide social, mental and physical stimulation and advice
on health and daily living. We go on regular outings and have entertainment
from outside volunteers and paid workshops. A varied programme is arranged
each week by friendly and caring staff, some of whom have been trained in
nursing and physiotherapy. These activities can include gentle physical exercise,
dominoes, Scrabble, Car Games, Quizzes, Sing songs, Slide Shows, Ceilidh Bands
and talks/advice on matters affecting the health and acre of the elderly.
Transport is provided and we give respite one day a week for careers. Members
are collected from and returned to their homes each week and arrangements
can be made for wheelchairs.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are served on arrival and a 2 course lunch with tea/coffee
is provided.
We are happy to have any elderly person who is housebound or who maybe mentally
or physically disadvantaged. We accept OAP's who may be lonely and living
and coping on their own and those in sheltered housing.
We meet on Mondays from 10.00am - 2.30pm, from August to June, except for
public holidays, in Roslin Community Hall. The cost per day is £1.50.
If you feel you would benefit from the Centre or, if you are a Career who would welcome some respite, please contact Mrs E Fisher at Roslin Community Hall by telephoning 0131-440 0293.
