MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MINUTES
The
minutes of the June meeting were proposed by D. Hogg and seconded
by F. Renton.

APOLOGIES
Apologies
were received from S. Kay, J. Collins and Cllr R. Imrie.

POLICE REPORT
3.1
There were 12 crimes reported in the area since the last meeting
with four being solved.

TREASURER'S REPORT
4.1
S. Kay is still in contact with the bank as bank statements have
not been received.
4.2 £50.60 was raised at Roslin Fun Day in June. The money
raised will be split between Bilston Kids Club and Bilston Youth
Club.

TRANSPORT REPORT
5.1
K. McIntosh attended a meeting on 15 July to discuss whether the
Bus Action Group should start up again. The meeting also included
discussion about if it was possible the X47 service could be expanded
into Roslin. He is also going to push for a 37 or 37A to be rerouted
through Roslin on an hourly basis or better. F. Renton to write
to Archie Pacey with regards to an improved evening/weekend/public
holiday bus service in Roslin.

ENVIRONMENT REPORT
6.1
A letter was received from Roslin Heritage Society with regards
to the tarring of the Penicuik to Bonnyrigg railway walk. The
Community Council are not aware of any plans regarding this issue.
A. Fleming to inform Roslin Heritage Society.
6.2 M. Gordon brought up the problem of overgrowing bushes and
weeds on the Langhill Road to Roslin. K. McIntosh informed the
council that action was being taken about this in the next week
6.3 The Community Council received information from Scottish Water
regarding Sewer Rehabilitation in Bilston and the Bush commencing
in August.

PLANNING
7.1
Permission is sought to carry out a crown-lift and a crown-thin
on the mature Gean next to the north-western boundary wall in
the back gardens of 1-5 Manse Road, Roslin. The Gean has grown
very big and is encroaching on the telephone wires and the house
and roof
7.2 Permission is sought to fell one semi-mature Willow tree,
three mature plum trees and a semi-mature Lime tree all in the
garden and the two paddocks of Monklands, Bilston. Permission
is also sought to lightly crown-lift the trees growing along the
northern boundary of the garden to keep them clear of the buildings
and to lightly prune the Sycamore growing next to the hunt and
to prune back the mature beech growing adjacent to the gate leading
to the back field.
7.3 Re-roofing of workshop and parts department of Volkswagen
Centre at Moorfoot View, Bilston.
7.4 Mr and Mrs Sharp 84 Penicuik Road, Roslin. Alteration to dwellinghouse
to form pitched roof over existing rear extension, extension to
garage and erection of decking.
7.5 Installation of access ramps to hall and church at Bilston
Church and Mission Hall, Castlelaw Crescent, Bilston.
7.6 K Kealy, 3D Station Road, Roslin. Installation of rooflights
to flatted dwelling.
7.7 Melville Housing Association, formation of access road to
dwelling at 82 Castlelaw Crescent, Bilston.
7.8 Nicola Eddy, 1 Kirkettle Cottages, Roslin. Erection of extension
to dwellinghouse.
7.9 Mr r Logan, 48 Moat View, Roslin. Extension to dwellinghouse.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS
9.1
K. McIntosh informed to Community Council that there is a Continuing
threat of rural post office closure. The Community Council acknowledged
this.
9.2 M. Ewart suggested that the Community Council publish a newsletter
in September detailing what we have done over the past year, what
we intend to do over the next year and to get new members of the
community interested. The Committee agreed.

The
next meeting will be held on Tuesday 7 September 2004 at 8.00
pm in Bilston Pavilion. The meeting closed at 10.10 pm.
