Minutes of the Community Council meeting held on 1 June 2004 at 8.00 pm in Roslin Community Hall.

1 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

The minutes of the May meeting were proposed by F. Renton and seconded by D. Hogg.

2 APOLOGIES

Apologies were received from S. Kay, J. Collins and D. Watson.

3 POLICE REPORT

3.1 There were 4 crimes reported over the last month 3 in Roslin and 1 in Bilston.
3.2 M. Gordon enquired about an accident that occurred on the A703 last month. K. McIntosh suggested that double white lines should be painted at the junction where the accident happened. J. Robinson to look into the matter.
3.3 The council have lifted some untaxed vehicles in the area.
3.4 The Police took the names of around 30 youths who were hanging about in Roslin Glen and around the chapel. Several of them were under the influence of alcohol.

4 TREASURER'S REPORT

The balance on 25 February 2004 was £1412.10. No newer statements are available. S. Kay is looking into the matter.

5 TRANSPORT REPORT

5.1 The Bus Action Group is going to become more active again in the village and will be holding a stall at the Roslin Fun Day to gauge opinion of the Bus Service in Roslin.
5.2 F. Renton replied to a letter received from Residents in Burnbank Terrace, Bilston.

6 ENVIRONMENT REPORT

6.1 The Garden Competition is to be held on 7 August 2004. D. Hogg to contact Janet Bee at the Advertiser with details.
6.2 J. Borgoine is to oversee that the area around the garages in Myrtle Crescent, Bilston is tidied up.

7 PLANNING

7.1 The University Court of The University of Edinburgh, Old College, South Bridges, Edinburgh. Extension to cow shed to form milking parlour and calving shed and relocation and replacement of silo at Langhill Farm, Roslin. No opposition.
7.2 Mr and Mrs McKenzie, 13 Knowetop Place, Roslin. Erection of a two storey extension and porch. No opposition.
7.3 Mr and Mrs Chris McCafferty, 10 Charlton Grove, Roslin. Erection of extension to front, side and rear. No opposition.

9 ANY OTHER BUSINESS

9.1 R. Imrie asked if the Community Council would support changing the speed limit on the B7003 between Roslin and the Gowkley Moss roundabout from 60mph to 40mph. A letter is to be written to Commercial Services
9.2 Final preparations are being made for the Community Council run teas and coffees at Roslin Fun Day. The money raised on the day will be split between Bilston Kids Club and Bilston Youth Club.

10 NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 6 July 2004 at 8.00 pm in Bilston Pavilion. The meeting closed at 9.10 pm.
