Minutes of the Community Council meeting held on 3 February 2004 at 8.00 pm in Roslin Community Hall.

1 PREVIOUS MINUTES

The minutes of the January meeting were proposed by D. Hogg and seconded by M. Gordon.

2 APOLOGIES

There were no apologies.

3 POLICE REPORT

No Police Report available.

4 TREASURER'S REPORT

The balance on December 31 2003 was £1193.96.

5 TRANSPORT REPORT

5.1 Awaiting reply from Commercial Services regarding previous transport issues.
5.2 K. McIntosh is looking in to the introduction of speed pods on Seafield Road, Bilston.

6 ENVIRONMENT REPORT

6.1 The Committee was informed that Midlothian Council are introducing on-the-spot fines if dog foul is not cleared away. The fixed fines will be issued by the dog warden.
6.2 M. Gordon suggested that the Community Council should write a letter to the Dog Aid Society asking for 'poop scoops' and bags to try and tackle the dog waste problem in our area. M. Ewart to write to them.
6.3 M. Ewart raised the matter of a path leading from Bilston Park to Seafield Road, Bilston and the fact that it was overgrown. K. McIntosh to look into the matter.
6.4 M. Gordon asked if a broken fence backing Bilston Park, Bilston, was property of Midlothian Council or the house owner. K. McIntosh to look into the matter.
6.5 K. McIntosh would like to know the Community Council's opinion on introducing new public toilets in Roslin. The Community Council are to check out public opinion.
6.6 A. Fleming is to telephone Midlothian Council regarding an abandoned car in St. Clair Crescent.

7 PLANNING

7.1 The University Court of The University of Edinburgh, Estates and Buildings, Old College, South Bridge. Erection of garage at land opposite 4 Langhill Farm Cottages, Langhill Farm, Roslin, EH25 9ST. No opposition.
7.2 Joab Vos, 60 Main Street, Roslin. Alterations to window and installation of patio doors at 60 Main Street, Roslin. No opposition.
7.3 Lynne Lamb, 21 Castlelaw Cres, Bilston. Installation of driveway at 21 Castlelaw Cres, Bilston. No opposition.

7 COMMUNITY WEBSITE

Community Website has been completed and is now online. Committee members viewed the website and filled out the questionnaires provided. It was suggested that the domain name be changed from 'http://www.roslin.net' to one that includes Bilston.

8 CORRESPONDENCE

8.1 E-mail from SN World Foundation about the Worldwide Partners Program.
8.2 Letter and leaflets from Elspeth Attwooll MEP.

R. Imrie informed that council that the Community Forum will be starting again at the end on March.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 2 March 2004 at 8.00 pm in Bilston Pavilion.

The meeting closed at 9.45 pm.
