Here
is a review of issues and events which the Community Council has
taken part in and looked at over the last year;
- The
official opening of "Sandy's Pitch", the multi-purpose
sports pitch in Bilston Park.
- A
wreath was laid on Remembrance Sunday at the Roslin War
memorial from the Community Council
- Our
Annual Carol Singing event took place in December. Music
was provided by St David's Brass Band. Carol Singers included
children from Bilston Kids Club.
- Midlothian
Council was informed of repairs needed to several roads
in the area. Relevant action was taken by the Council.
- The
Community Council in conjunction with Midlothian Council
are aiming to tackle the problem of dog fouling on public
pathways and in public parks. This initiative is ongoing.
- The
installation of eight speed bumps in Seafield Road.
- The
re-installation of public toilets in Roslin was raised at
some of our meetings. The Community Council sought the opinion
of residents, through public petitions, on the matter. With
hardly any support the Community Council opposed the motion
and closed the matter.
- A
question and answer session was arranged at the May meeting
with Police Inspector Cameron Rose. He also introduced the
committee to our new Community Police Officers, P.C. Judith
Robinson and P.C. Louise Murie.
- At
Roslin Fun Day the Community Council ran teas and coffees
in the Community Hall in aid of Bilston Kids Club and Bilston
Youth Club.
