about
the Roslin & Bilston Community Council.....
Where
is Bilston
? Where is Roslin
?
what
have we achieved?
The
Community Council is a voluntary organisation that meets once a
month and provides a forum for residents, businesses and groups
within Roslin, Bilston and the surrounding area. At our meetings,
held on the first Tuesday of every month, members of the public
are free to come along and raise any issue they wish with our committee.
Also at the meetings are the local councillors and a representative
from Lothian and Borders Police.
The
Community Council is currently looking for new members. We have
spaces for representatives from Roslin and Bilston. Any resident
is free to become a member. We are looking for people who run groups,
own businesses in the area or people who have a strong interest
in the community to join us. If you are interested in becoming a
member please contact us or attend one
of our meetings.
The
community council has been in operation since 1996 and its objectives
are .....
-
to
ascertain, co-ordinate and express to the local authorities
for its area and to public authorities, the views of the community
which it represents, in relation to matters for which those
authorities are responsible, and to take such action in the
interests of that community as appears to it to be expedient
and practicable.
-
the
encouragement of co-operation among the various community organizations
in the area.
-
the
retention of the identity of a Community amongst people living
in the Area.
